"I read the news today, oh boy"

There's "Life of Pi" and "Life of Brian," Boswell’s “Life of Samuel Johnson,” the sitcom “Life of Riley,” and the Beatles’ ground-breaking “A Day in the Life.”   We view Life of a Debt: Data Integrity in Debt Collection, a roundtable hosted by the FTC and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), as pretty ground-breaking, too.  And the topic — the flow of consumer data through the debt collection process — should attract the interest of your clients in the financial field.

The agencies just released the agenda for the Thursday, June 6, 2013, event.   FTC Commissioner Julie Brill and CFPB Acting Deputy Director Steven Antonakes will set the stage with opening remarks at 9:00.   After that, speakers will help frame the issues with presentations on the life cycle of a debt, how information flows through the collection process, a review of the FTC’s recent study on the debt buying industry, and a follow-up on changes to the law since the FTC issued its 2010 report, Repairing a Broken System.

Also up for discussion:  just what info is available to debt collectors at the time of assignment or sale, verifying disputed debts under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and investigating them under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, debt collection litigation, and time-barred debts.

I hope you will cover fair credit reporting act, harassment in collection of debt , sending bailiffs, threat of eviction, dangers to life and all forms of threats and structured visit to embarrass and coerce. My credit rating was manufactured to justify these actions. Robocalls only stopped when the instigator cut the telephone off. I will touch on other abuses that you can look into in a complaint form so that the source of these actions can be firmly established.

I am not sure what this means but I hope you are saying there will be new and FAIR rules for debt collectors to limit their number of calls, the information they are allowed access to, and the overall behavior of the collection agencies will now change. I have been harassed unmercifully by two Collection agencies, one was completely wrong with their information and it took.forever to correct this with credit reporting agencies. I am not certain all three have even been corrected but one of them has and my credit score junped up a whopping 112 points because of this error, but they refuse to remove it for 7 years. This was NOT MY ERROR but that of irresponsible people who have a horrifying reputation for harassing people. The other has yet to be resolved. I need help. My credit rating should be very high, but because of unscrupulous practices, they have not only embarrassed me but have caused me lost sleep and unwarranted worry.
