The letter(s) of the law
It’s not like us to suggest you read someone else’s mail, but the FTC has sent letters that your clients might want to know about.
The FTC sent letters to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) summarizing the past year in FTC law enforcement, rulemaking, research, consumer and business education, and other activities of interest to the two agencies. One letter covers the Truth in Lending Act, the Consumer Leasing Act, and Electronic Fund Transfer Act. The other letter addresses the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. The letters also talk about the Dodd-Frank Act and the FTC-CFPB Memorandum of Understanding – the document that outlines how the two agencies coordinate certain activities.
If you work in the financial services sector, you’ll want to follow the conversation.
